World War I was started on July 28th, 1914 and ended on November 11th, 1918. There were two major fighting forces: The Allied Powers and the Central Powers. The original Allies in WWI consisted of England, France, and Russia while the Central Powers were Germany and Austria-Hungary. Other countries joined these alliances later on in the war. Japan, Italy, and the United States joined the allies and on the other hand, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers.
